How we collect personal information

Unless another person makes a donation on your behalf, we collect your personal information from you directly when you make a financial donation (that might be through our website www.support.bsl.org.au/donate, over the phone, by email or in person). In some cases however, we will collect information about you from a third party, for example, our payment gateway provider may provide us with information about your donation.

Sharing of your personal information

We may disclose your personal information to our third party service providers who perform tasks on our behalf, for example data processing and storage services, providers of payment processing services, banking services, professional services (including legal, accounting and business consulting), research, ecommerce providers, tele-services, training, website or technology services, marketing service providers and transport and mailing services that send our letters or other deliveries. We may disclose your personal information to these third parties so that they can assist us with processing and delivering your order.

Those third parties will be permitted to access only the personal information they need to deliver the service to BSL or to you.

Our payment gateway provider is a global provider and it may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients. Generally, this is countries such as New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom.

We are not otherwise likely to disclose information that we collect when you make a donation to overseas recipients unless you or third party service providers are located overseas, or it is with your consent, or the disclosure is required or authorised by law.

The privacy and collection practices of entities to which we disclose personal information are governed by their own privacy policies and collection notices.

We will not otherwise disclose information about you unless the disclosure:

  • is required or authorised by law; or
  • you have consented to our disclosing the information about you.
