Meet Emily
Moving from school to work can be difficult for young people
experiencing disadvantage.
Life challenges led Emily to leave school early. She became
homeless and was out of work. “It was pretty horrible, but I tried
to stay positive. I knew it wasn’t going to be forever,” Emily says.
Thanks to the Brotherhood’s Transition to Work program, Emily
was given a six-month paid internship with social enterprise
clothing store, HoMie. “I was absolutely over the moon! They
are teaching me, and help and support me.”
Emily is getting work experience, she has her confidence back
and is enrolled in a social work course.
